Gimme sum playaz

for my latest project, a big branding campaign for what is probably your top-of-mind international sports channel, i have been huntin' fo' sum playaz. football, soccer, cricket and basketball playaz, to be precise.

initially i was all, "woohoo! the almighty is rewarding me for <fill in name of awful, life-draining project here>!!!" and after we did a rebrand project early this year that had the office boys rejoicing over a writhing mass of boyhood fantasies come to life (including a kick-ass dominatrix, saucy school girl, porny policewoman, sexy santa and a lara croft-alike), i felt like it was about time we girls got our fill of eye candy as well.

after a few days of scouring the interwebz for reasonably attractive, athletic, buff, singapore-based playaz, woohooo! has kind of turned into.... mehhhhh. i have bombarded baseball players' facebook profiles, emailed over a dozen expat football clubs,  begged to audition an entire cricket team (pila balde na ito!) and lurked unseen at several pickup games in condos and neighborhood clubs.

cricket. there is a special place in heaven reserved for people who are perpetually online. an officer of a prominent local cricket team replied to my electronic plea within minutes, and before i knew it i had traded my saturday morning for bats, bowls and boys. see ya at the cricket pitch, playaz!

football. i found a korean football club based in singapore, and promptly turned the matter over to our korean intern, kalam. suitably motivated, she proceeded to whip the boys into a football frenzy. "don't call any other clubs! we will do it!" they reportedly yelped. "what do you want? muscle? face? we have muscle! we have face!" talaga lang ha? patingin nga.

basketball. you'd think i could vomit forth a legion of basketball-playing acquaintances, given the number of pinoys in singapore and b-ball being our national sport. but guess how many pinoys i've gotten to audition? zero. maybe because all the pinoys i know are sedentary office guys who play a sluggish pickup game a couple of times a month to keep their beer bellies at bay. or maybe because marlon, my main conduit to the male species, hates basketball almost as much as he hates cars. (when i asked the lord for someone different from all the other guys, he sure delivered.) surprisingly, the only two pinoys who are auditioning for the project actually play not basketball, but...

baseball. strange, huh? one guy is a batchmate and college crush ng bayan who used to play for the ateneo varsity, recommended by a mutual friend. the other guy is someone from the pinoysg forums who was trawling the interwebz for players to join his baseball team. ah, a man after my own heart.

so while i have dug up a few decent leads, i have yet to see the kind of bod that will send my brain slamming against the front and rear of my cranium, sloshing rapidly back and forth in its own cerebral fluid (which is, according to fight science, the physiological effect of a ham-fisted blow to the head).

so yeah. i'm waiting to be knocked out. don't worry -- when it happens, i will let you know.

I'm back!

as in BACK. hehehe.

microblogging via facebook and twitter slowly crept up on me and usurped the function of this blog. i should probably restore my faith in my brain and my writing by proving that i can still have thoughts that are longer than 140 characters!

but mostly i'm blogging again because my sister told me she missed my updates. awww.

i haven't even blogged about my first tattoo yet, and here i am posting a picture of my second one. i got this one yesterday from leon lam-hien, the same artist who did my first. i can't imagine having any other artist ink me. marlon even has this whole series of tattoos planned around leon's style. fortunately for our wallets, leon has relocated from france to hong kong in the name of love. whoever this girl is, i sure hope she's the one.
