well, what do we have here?
-- 19 January 2005 Dear Deepa, We are happy to let you know that you have successfully passed your probationary employment as Copy Editor. As recommended by your immediate supervisor, your salary will {squeak closer to the minimum amount required to conduct yourself to and from work, feed yourself, and other such frivolities} effective 1 January 2005. Congratulations and we look forward to your continuing success. Yours sincerely, The Powers that Be -- ok. so basically this means: 1. i can now be given more work. 2. the government can now dig its filthy paws into a bigger portion of my salary. 3. i can now buy an indicator of residence, i.e. potted plant, for my desk, as this document negates the threat of being suddenly evicted from my workstation. it also invalidates the humiliation of juggling various personal belongings with an unwieldy terracotta pot in case said eviction were to actually take place. i'm thrilled. no, really, i am. because now i'm... well, i'm just regular. or regularized, if you want to be nitpicky about it. oh yeah. does "effective january 1" mean that i get retroactive salary this coming payday? because after all these shoes and a divine turquoise corduroy jacket from mango, i sure as hell need it. |

ReplyDeleteHi, Deepa! I got here through Chris (boi bitch). Let me just say:
ReplyDelete*You are working where I used to work.
*I am working where you used to work. (For how long though? Not sure.)
*If you indeed mentioned Mark Escaler somewhere here, then we went to the same course in the same school. :) (Unless I've confused myself, if that's the case, sorry!)
Was nice (kind of) meeting you. Have fun and enjoy Factory Life as much as you can. :)
hurrah, hurrah!
ReplyDeletebtw, it's retroactive so prepare to shop once again!
slaybelle: you are working where i used to work? where's that? dear god for your sake i hope you mean summit. you don't want to be working at that *OTHER* place where i used to work. *SHUDDER*
ReplyDeletebut, thanks for dropping by! always nice to "meet" new people. hope its ok if i visit your blog too, and do drop by again!
jd: aaaaauuggggghhhh! no more shopping! if i have to physically restrain myself i will!
...um, maybe no clothes shopping anyway. it's just about time i hit the bookstore. hehe.
Deepa,
ReplyDeleteNot Summit. Heehee.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. are you kidding? for your sake (again), i hope you're not. in case you aren't, i have three questions for you.
ReplyDelete1) just to be absolutely sure that you're talking about what i think you're talking about, do you work in RCBC plaza?
2) naabutan ba kita diyan?
3) why on earth are you working there?
1. I don't work at RCBC Plaza, but we are thinking of the same company. :)
ReplyDelete2. Di tayo nag-abot, I think. Been here only a short while.
3. Better offer. :) Which is sadly losing its sheen, but I've got several things in the pipeline.
Small world no!
mmm-HMMMM. email me naman o? (addy's in my blogger profile.) when i left kasi the company didn't seem to be doing too well, so i'd like to know how it (and the people) are doing now. i would love to take this offline and stop with all the mysterious references. hehe.
ReplyDeleteHi Deepa! Musta na? Would you believe my gf happened to drop by your blog and saw the photo of us nung kasal ni Vic posted? Hehehe :) Addict kasi magbasa ng blog yon. Anyway, how goes it? You still in Manila?
